Lockdown as a concept was fine, but as a reality it’s less than glamorous.
Used to being able to do what we want, exactly when we want, there is now a distinct feeling that some of the fun and purpose has gone from day to day existence.
Yes, we are now facing restrictions in certain areas, but to focus on these realities too often, has much the same effect as following too many news feeds – despair. Surviving all of this (and the virus) is our greatest challenge, but eventually, at some future point, it will pass. So, it’s wise to live one day at a time, but it’s still vital to keep the future in mind.
If you focus on self care – taking your daily exercise, eating well and staying safe, not forgetting others who might need your support, you’ll do much better. Unless you are working from home, the gift that you have plenty of now is time, to explore new topics and activities, or to revisit old ones. Time to catch up on reading, improve your skin, learn a new language or master some cooking skills; by doing so you’ll emerge from this having grown.
If you are single, this is a great time to be reviewing your approach to dating, to see if what you are doing is delivering the results you want. Whatever you conclude, you can prepare for the future, by perfecting your plan now. I’ll talk some more next time about how to conduct your evaluation and what to do with your findings.
Stay safe.
