If your intention is to find the right partner for a committed relationship this year and you have achieved financial independence and career success, then you could make this the year for you.
There are lots of single men and women over 50 who would love to find a new partner to share this stage of their lives. You may be wondering how to go about it though, so I have put together some ideas you may want to consider.
1 Review Your Image
It is always a good time for a wardrobe refresh. Cast a critical eye over what you already own – if your career has been a demanding one, do you have sufficient casual wear and is it up to date and of the right quality?
It is time to give those ill-fitting jeans to charity (they’ll be perfect for someone) and invest in a great new pair that better befit your age, body shape and status.
Aim for fewer items of better quality. Classics from great brands are a good place to start and will not date, so that when you first meet someone you will present as fresh and smart. You will feel better too – there is something about well made properly fitting clothes that boosts confidence.
If you hate the thought of shopping, then seek out the services of a personal stylist – all our big stores have them, also many of the smaller clothing shops are happy to help you in this regard if you ask.
2 Consider Taking up a New Hobby with a Social Aspect
While this is not for everyone, it can be a great way to meet new and interesting people and sharing the experience of learning is a good way to bond. If you try this and you do not enjoy the experience, don’t give up straightaway – you may have chosen the wrong hobby – it’s definitely worth trying two or three classes/book groups/activities etc first before abandoning this idea.
3 Book a Solo Holiday
Many solo holidays are organised with a specific age group in mind, so that activities will be suitable and you will be sure to have an enjoyable time. I know lots of people who have met their partners this way and others who have made lifelong friends who share their interests. Anyway, who doesn’t love the excitement of a holiday romance?
4 Dating
If the prospect of dating via apps fills you with horror, then you may feel more comfortable signing up to a matchmaking agency, where you’ll be able to take advantage of expert advice and guidance to find the right person.
You may feel that this is an expensive option, but bear in mind this is an investment in your future. The people you meet will be specially chosen for you and will all be known to the agency.
People who pay the fees will be as interested in succeeding as you are, so your time will not be wasted.
Good luck in your search!
