Hardworking GPs are flocking to dating agencies to find a mate. And they are proving the most popular pick for potential partners, writes Anna Goldie.
Agency Sara Eden Personal Introductions says it has had a 25 percent increase in the number of GPs on its books – with January the most popular month for new joiners. Karen Mooney, founder of the company, said GPs complained they did not get to meet potential partners because they worked such long hours.
‘A lot of them say they don’t have time to find a partner after looking after other people,’ she said. “I think they take stock in January and say “I worked too damn hard last year; I’m going to think of myself for a change”.’
She added: ‘GPs have always been incredibly popular, especially male GPs with women. I think it is because they come across as bright, caring, nurturing – all good potential father material.’
Peter, a GP in surrey, said he joined the agency because he has been so busy, he was just ‘chugging along’ without meeting people.
He added: ‘There were no shortage of people wanting to meet me as a GP. Obviously, any involvement with a patient is a no-no and you just can’t interact with people in the same was as in other offices.’
